Residents of Salisbury and nearby communities are invited to join a virtual public hearing on August 19, 2025, at 7 p.m. to discuss Delmarva Power & Light's plan to upgrade a major transmission line.
The utility is seeking to rebuild 20.7 miles of its 138 kV line, increasing its capacity to 230 kV from the Piney Grove substation in Salisbury to New Church in Virginia.
This proposal, now before the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC), impacts Wicomico and Worcester counties and requires a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity.
Public Utility Law Judge Christine L. Burke will preside, with input from state agencies and residents.
Locals can register to speak by August 15, or simply view the hearing on YouTube.
Written comments are welcome until August 22, either online or by mail.
This project promises to boost reliability and support local energy needs, making community feedback especially important.
